Post-Hurricane Helene Landscape Improvements: Candler, NC
We worked alongside the Wildlands Engineering team to restore the bank after the property endured extensive damage from Hurricane Helene floodwaters. The Wildlands team focused on improving the stream channel, building back up the slope and installing hundreds of live stakes along the stream bank. Our team then planted a mix of native trees, shrubs, and perennials to aid in further slope stabilization and restore the visual appeal of the property. Perhaps the most fun and challenging aspect of the project was the natural boulder staircase which was sourced almost entirely from displaced boulders from the storm with limited machine access. Our team also created a new fire pit area to replace the previous one destroyed by the storm and made several drainage improvements to capture stormwater runoff.
